Double Girder Overhead Crane
5t European Overhead Crane
A 5 t low-headroom overhead crane for plants where building height, not lifting capacity, is the limiting factor. The compact hoist and the crane envelope are arranged to keep the hook close to the girder, so the crane lifts to a useful height under a shallow roof.
It is typically specified for assembly and maintenance duty in existing buildings, where a standard construction would either foul the roof or leave the hook too low to work with. Because the envelope is tight, the hook approach and the clear height above the load have to be agreed before the structure is ordered.
- Confirm at order: the clear height available above the rail, the hook approach needed at each end of the bay, and the lift height measured to the hook.
- Also agree: duty class, control type, and the motor sizing for the actual duty rather than a nominal rating.

All FAQs›When should I choose a double girder crane over a single girder?
Choose double girder when headroom is tight, lift height is large, the span is long or the duty class is heavy. It also gives you a platform for the trolley and panel. Below roughly 20 m span at light to medium duty, a single girder crane is usually the more economical machine.
›Can I fit a double girder crane into an existing building?
Yes, but the check is on the runway and the columns, not only on the crane. Send the bay drawing with column spacing, rail level and clear height, and we will confirm the span, the wheel loads and whether a walkway will fit above the load path.
